I’d like to mangle the last word of a quote from John Brown just before he was hanged at the dawn of The Civil War:

“I… am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away – but with [meanness].”

I’m not worried about the election winner. Trump will win. I am worried about a potential mental degradation… of many Democrats and pundit leaders after the election who won’t be able to cope. And vice versa (to be fair), but that’s low probability.

Unfortunately, vitriol will abound and be amplified afterwards. Some are “kindly” amplifying their narrative of “love” but are in such a bubble, they don’t realize they’re pissing off the other side.

We are in a Strauss/Howe Fourth Turning, and Baby Boomer led viciousness will endure. This ain’t your blandly nice GI Generation grandparents running the show anymore.

We could use more level heads to solve issues that most of the country actually agrees on.
